WESTERN LIFESTYLE

99% of our houses are western style houses. The architect has an open plan kitchen designed for us. There is no Purda in  the house. Whilst the house wife prepares the food, there are people sitting in front looking at her. It doesn’t stop here, but they are leading us to even open plan toilets. In one particular area a person used the toilet and then realised later that it is a open plan toilet. The planning of the Kuffar is according to their way of life. Animals live like animals and human beings live differently, that is with shame and modesty.

If our lifestyle is not according to Islam then it is extremely dangerous. For example, one of the Musallis went for Umrah and brought Zam Zam water as you are the Imaam of the Masjid. Now, he pours the Zam Zam in a beer bottle obviously after cleaning the bottle thoroughly. He then presents it to Maulana who takes it home and keeps it in the fridge. Some guests come to the house and find a beer bottle in the fridge. Maulana says, “They should look at what is in the bottle.” To give someone Zam Zam is certainly very blessed but in a beer bottle. Similarly is a western way of life. We can’t do without our holidays and braais, our eating is at the table, we sit on the couches instead of sitting on the floor.

Another example of the western lifestyle is like a person that brings the Ajwa dates of Madinah but wraps it in that part of the newspaper where the filthy women advertise themselves. You keep the dates in your home with respect in the same wrapping. When some guest comes, they ask, “Maulana, you afford respect to these filthy women.” Maulana says, “Look at the contents wrapped inside, we have the dates of Madinah.”

In a like manner we have Imaan and Quraan within our hearts but we have the impure lifestyle of the west outside. We should therefore send our children for home schooling and not even to Islamic schools. Islamic schools are simply duplicating the work of the government schools at a exorbitant fee. You got black vinegar in your Coca Cola bottle so you name it Coca Cola. The vinegar will not change to Coca Cola rather it remains vinegar. We have a western way of life with an Islamic tag. The effort being made today is to Islamasize everything. We give Islamic names and think that they are part of Islam.

We have Muslim names such as Khathija, Ayesha, Zainub, Ismail, Yunus, etc. By having a Muslim name one doesn’t become a Muslim. An Ustad in the Madrasah asked the students, “Are you all Muslims?” They replied, “Yes!” He asked one, “How do you know that you are a Muslim?” He replied, “I wear a red Topi.” The Ustaad said, “You a Laal topi waaro Musalmaan.” The second student was asked, “How do you know that you are a Muslim?” He replied, “My name is Ismail.” The Ustaad said, “Too naam no Musalmaan.” When the third one was asked the same question, he replied, “I am a Muslim as I eat meat.” The Ustaad said, “Too Gosth Khaawaa Waro Musalman.” Finally one student said that I believe in Allah and His Rasul g, therefore I am a Muslim. We should therefore be true Muslims in every sense of the word.
