عن ابن عمر : أن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قال : اتقوا الحرام في البنيان فإنه أساس الخراب

Hadrat Abdullah Ibn Umar R.A narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “Protect yourself from putting Haraam wealth into buildings, as placing Haraam wealth is the root of destroying one’s building.”

Root of destruction means that putting Haraam wealth into buildings is such an action that is the root of destroying one’s Deen, and it is also possible that one’s building will be destroyed. This can also be intended, that after putting up a building one should not disobey Allah Ta'ala as a building in which transgression takes place in eventually destroyed.
