An Ayat of Quran:

“And women shall have rights similar to the rights upon them.” (2:228)

Just as love is mutual and common to both parties so too are the rights devolving upon them are two-sided. Allah Ta’ala in His infinite mercy and wisdom has mentioned the rights of women before the rights of men in the above Ayat of Quran because a man, due to his inherent power and strength can easily obtain his rights from a woman. Thus more prominence has been accorded to the rights of women, who cannot forcibly obtain their rights. The second point to note in this verse of the Quran is that man should take the initiative to fulfill his responsibilities because the Quran has made mention of the rights of women first.
