Marriage an Ibadaat
Submitted by Shaheen Kola on
Islam has not only considered marriage a necessity of life but it has granted it the status of Ibaadat (worship). Whereby they can attain the proximity and closeness of Allah Ta’ala. This is why Rasulullah Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam has practically demonstrated this to us by his personal example of kindness and goodwill to women.
“The best of you is he who is best to his wife and I am the best amongst you, towards my wives.”
This is why those who study his lifestyle, find justice, fair-play and consideration towards the fairer sex as part of his nature, such justice that great claimants of equality and human rights have failed to display in their lives. There is no parallel to be found to the great concern he showed in pleasing his wives with various forms of legal entertainment.
Rasulullah Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam was so concerned about women that, the beloved act of Namaaz would be shortened due to the crying of an infant, he did not want the mother to become restless on account of the wailing of her child. He did this for a common woman of his congregation. It is hoped that every upright believer would readily comply with the teachings of Islam with regard to women. That the noble example and characteristics of Rasulullah Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam would be observed regarding the treatment of women.
